Call our main line 630-365-5060 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to ask questions, request services, or report non-emergency situations.
New Resident Checklist
- Update voter registration - Register to vote or update your registration through the Kane County Clerk’s Office – Election Division.
- Parking - The Village of Elburn does not require an annual vehicle sticker. However, all vehicles must be kept in running condition. Vehicles not meeting this requirement must be kept in a garage or will be subject to fines and removal at the owner’s expense. New residents should contact the Secretary of State's office to update their vehicle's state registration with their new address.
- Register for refuse/recycling service - The Village contracts with Lakeshore Recycling Systems for its refuse and recycling services. All households are provided a garbage cart and a recycling cart, which are picked up once per week on Wednesday. More information on rates, services, and collection times may be found here.
- Set up water and sewer service - The Village of Elburn provides water and sewer services to residents. Bills are mailed on the 1st and are due on the 21st, monthly. After hour payments can be placed in the locked drop box located outside Village Hall at 301 E. North Street. To start these services, contact Utility Billing at 630-365-5060. - Other Utilities
- ComEd is the local electricity service provider for Elburn residents. Call 1-800-334-7661 to set up electricity service.
- NICOR is the local gas provider. Call 1-888-642-6748 to set up gas service.
- Metronet, Mediacom, and FutureLink are the local internet providers. Call Metronet at 855-335-2175, Mediacom at 877-793-0954, and FutureLink at 224-298-8369

Other Helpful Information
- Building, electrical, and plumbing permits are issued by the Building Division. Before beginning ANY new building or remodeling project, you must contact the Village at 630-365-5061. To learn more or to apply for a permit, visit the Elburn Permits and Forms webpage.
- Commuter Parking - The Village of Elburn operates one commuter parking lot near the Metra station in at 422 E. Railroad Ave., Elburn, IL 60119. For more information, visit the Village of Elburn Metra Parking webpage.
- CodeRED Community Notification System is a critical emergency notification service that allows you to be informed and prepared for any incidents that may occur in our area such as evacuation notices, missing person alerts, and inclement weather advisories. - Village Meetings - All meetings are held at the Village Hall located at 301 E. North Street. Meeting agendas and minutes are available on the Village’s website. Please note that planned meeting dates/starting times are subject to change or may be canceled due to lack of agenda.
