Planning and Zoning

The Planning & Zoning Commission is comprised of six commissioners and the chairman. Each planning commissioner is appointed by the mayor, with the consent of the Board of Trustees. The Planning & Zoning Commission reviews petitions for changes to the zoning district map, text amendments to the zoning code, Special Use permits, Special Use permits for Planned Developments, zoning requests for newly annexed property, reviews all plats and plans for subdivisions, and reviews and recommends changes to the Comprehensive Land Plan of the village.

They also conduct public hearings concerning requests for variances to the Zoning Ordinance for properties that are not part of a planned development, appeals from any final order, requirements, decision, or determination made by an administrative official charged with the enforcement of the Zoning Code and may be tasked by the Village Board to review other matters. If you need to petition the Planning & Zoning Commission, please contact Building Commissioner Tom Brennan, at 630-365-5061.
