IL Rt 38 and Anderson Road Intersection Improvements Map

The Village of Elburn held a Public Information Meeting on March 4, 2026, regarding the preliminary engineering study for the proposed improvements at the intersection of Illinois Route 38 and Anderson Road. Materials that were presented during the meeting are now available for review below.

The project study area includes Illinois Route 38 from approximately 700 feet east to approximately 700 feet west of the intersection, and Anderson Road from approximately 550 feet south to approximately 925 feet north of the intersection.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Illinois Route 38 and Anderson Road

  • Widening of Anderson Road north of the intersection to accommodate a new left-turn lane

  • Removal of the existing concrete median on the south leg of the intersection and installation of a new left-turn lane

  • Roadway resurfacing and lighting improvements

  • Grading of intersection corners to allow for future pedestrian accommodations

Right-of-way acquisition will be required for portions of the project.

This is a federally funded project, and the public meeting was conducted in compliance with the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) under 23 CFR 771.111 and the public involvement policy of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
